Is miMind free?
Yes. miMind is free to download on Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android and Linux, and free to use on the web, with no ads and no sign-up required. The free version covers everyday mind mapping, importing, image and text export, and most of the nearly 400 templates. Paid plans add cloud sync, premium layouts and media (Premium), live collaboration (Business) or the AI assistant (AI).
Which platforms does miMind run on?
miMind has native apps for Windows, macOS (Mac App Store), iPhone and iPad (App Store), Android (Google Play) and 64-bit Linux (AppImage, .deb, .rpm or .tar.gz), plus a web app for desktop browsers at mimind.app/app. One subscription covers every platform, and with cloud sync the same maps follow you from device to device.
Does miMind work offline?
Yes. The desktop and mobile apps save your maps as files on your device, so you can create and edit them without an internet connection. If you use miMind Cloud sync, the changes you made offline upload when you are back online. The web app needs a connection to load, and the AI features need one to run.
Can I collaborate on a mind map with my team?
Yes, with miMind Business. Share a map and edit it together in real time: each person's cursor shows on the node they are working on, changes reach everyone within moments, and a built-in chat sits next to the map. You decide who can view and who can edit. Only the person who shares needs Business; invitees sign in with a free account.
Does miMind have an AI mind map generator?
Yes. With a miMind AI plan, describe a topic, paste notes, add a web link or attach PDFs and images, and the assistant builds a complete, styled mind map. It also suggests ideas as ghost nodes you keep or drop, and edits your map from a chat, with one-tap undo. miMind AI is powered by Anthropic's Claude.
Can I export my mind map to PDF, Word or an image?
Yes. Every plan exports maps as images (JPEG, PNG, BMP, TGA or a single-image PDF) and as plain text. Premium adds vector PDF, Word (.docx), SVG, HTML, Markdown, OPML, JSON, XML and CSV. You can save the file to your device or, outside Windows, share it straight from the app.
Can I import mind maps from XMind, FreeMind or other apps?
Yes. miMind imports XMind files (.xmind, in both the current and the legacy XMind format), FreeMind maps (.mm), OPML outlines, Markdown, CSV, JSON and XML, and turns each one into an editable miMind map. Importing is available on every plan, including the free version.
Does miMind have mind map templates?
Yes: nearly 400 ready-made maps in 32 categories, including SWOT Analysis, Eisenhower Matrix, Business Model Canvas, Kanban Board, SMART Goals, Lesson Plan, Monthly Budget and Meeting Agenda templates. Most of them are free; Premium templates add advanced layouts and animated scenes. New templates reach the gallery without an app update.

Is my data private, and can I lock a map with a password?
You can use miMind without an account, and your maps then stay on your device; cloud sync is optional. With miMind Business you can lock any map with a password or a 4- or 6-digit PIN, and accounts created before November 1, 2026 keep this with Premium. CryptoBees does not sell your personal information or use your maps to advertise to you.
